BP CEO plans to step down within 12 months

BP Chief Executive Officer Bob Dudley, who helped the company recover from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil spill disaster and the oil price crash in 2014, feels ready to retire after leading the energy behemoth for almost a decade.

Dudley didn’t specify whether he was going to make the announcement within a year or maybe at the end of October, when BP reports its third-quarter results.

The current CEO has had discussions at length with BP Chairman Helge Lund at length about retiring. However, BP doesn’t comment on speculation about executive succession, a company spokesman said.
