Middle East Energy 2022 provided the perfect opportunity to meet leading companies in the fields of energy and technology to get to know more about their latest solutions and products. Eaton was one of the companies we met to discuss the company’s main areas of focus. Ashraf Yehia, managing director, Eaton Middle East, spoke more on these to Energy Review in an exclusive interview.

How is Eaton addressing the demand for power management in the region and globally?

Eaton is a power management solution company. We did diversify our approach to the market in order to be able to serve our partners, users and customers across the world. We are mainly now focusing more on digital solutions to be able to connect the assets within the facility. We have been always providing low voltage components, low voltage switchgear, medium voltage switchgear, UPS solutions, emergency lighting systems, and fire systems. The pandemic has accelerated digitalization timelines for many businesses.  Today, there is an opportunity to connect all these assets together through a digital platform named Brightlayer which enables the user to control and operate facilities remotely. With this platform, we can now offer our customers a complete cyber-secured design solution to meet the needs of the end user.

How is Eaton helping its clients to transform its infrastructure for more digital enablement?

From education and healthcare to retail and hospitality, digital transformation is driving more critical than ever to distribute IT environments as organisations seek to bring data closer to their end users infrastructure. Eaton is quickly moving towards digitalization and solutions that enable organisations to avoid power-outage and of those products is the Intelligent Power Management (IPM) software, which is a key part of our new digital platform, Brightlayer. Brightlayer is a newly introduced solution, created based on our very long experience in the market. With this improved platform, we can invite layer solution and not just be limited to a certain application. This cyber-secured design can also be used across commercial buildings, residential, industrial, oil and gas, where you can control remotely all your connected assets.

How is Eaton diversifying its offerings for more sustainable and efficient power solutions?

The climate emergency is no longer an abstract issue for scientists to resolve. It’s here. Action is needed. Sustainability and efficiency are our focus now. Eaton is leveraging what it thinks are the most important secular growth trends that we’ll experience in our lifetime: an energy transition driven by climate change, increasing electrification and explosive growth in digital connectivity. For the last couple, we have been focused towards sustainability and offering digital solutions to our customers. We help them to analyze the opportunities within installation in terms of energy efficiency, maximization of the installed assets, and matching their needs. The customer will have a full visibility for his downtime, his upcoming downtime, full visibility for the efficiency of his installation for better operation. Then, he can work on upgrading the solution to the latest technology through a connected platform.

At Eaton, the work our teams do to improve people’s lives and the environment has never been more relevant, or more critical to our stakeholders and our global community. We look forward to continuing to make what matters work, safely and sustainably, for many decades to come.
