Lebanon finally has formed a 20-man cabinet, led by Prime Minister Hassan Diab, after a long wait.

In this cabinet, Raymond Ghajar was appointed by the Free Patriotic Movement as Minister of Energy.

Ghajar holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Ottawa, Canada, and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan, Canada. In 1993, he obtained his Ph.D. in electrical power systems.

Ghajar was the vice president of the Institute for Human Resources at the Lebanese American University (2005-2007), the associate dean of the Faculty of Engineering (2013-2018) at the Lebanese American University, and the acting dean of the Faculty of Engineering (2019) at LAU. Since 1992 he has worked as a professional consultant and technical expert in Canada, the US, Europe, and the Middle East.

In 2008, he held the position of Senior Advisor to the Minister of Energy, and in this context, he led a small group of experts, whose task was to direct the work of consultants and coordinate with key stakeholders. His name is also included in the World Bank's list of experts specializing in energy studies.
