The oil engineering group TechnipFMC announced that it has signed a strategic partnership with the Norwegian oil company Equinor (formerly Statoil) for the development of offshore projects on a global scale.

“The agreement covers the entire range of TechnipFMC products and services from the earliest stages to the completion of the project, including installation and underwater operations”, says the company.

The two companies have already worked together on projects such as on the Trestakk field in the Norwegian Sea.

“We are very proud to extend our global partnership with Equinor (...). We are deeply convinced that collaboration is the key to success and that this agreement will strengthen the competitiveness of our two companies,” said Doug Pferdehirt, general manager of TechnipFMC.

Equinor also announced that it has signed another similar partnership with the Norwegian oil services group Aker Solutions.

“Two separate agreements have been signed with similar objectives, and the work will focus on improving the safety, quality, cost and technology of the concept to the execution of underwater projects and activities”, the company noted in a statement.

Based in the United Kingdom, TechnipFMC was born in early 2017 from the merger of French Technip and American FMC and has nearly 40,000 employees.

Equinor, which rejected the Statoil name this year to emphasize its diversification into renewable energies, says it wants to devote between 15 and 20% of its investments to “new energy solutions” by 2030.
